If you are new to hiking, we offer resources to guide you. One of the first things listed in many guides is making a commitment to good stewardship of this majestic forest preserve. This means, “garbage in, garbage out.” We encourage guests to go one step further as most experienced nature-lovers do: leave the land a little better than how you found it. That means bringing an extra bag so you can pick up the stray things that don’t belong on the trail as you head back. Most of the time it’s the little things that get left behind: a pacifier, soda tabs, plastic bottle tops. Pick them up and you’ll feel even better about your hike!
